summary: Capt. Pike is held prisoner and tested by aliens who have the power to project incredibly lifelike illusions.

 

The franchise starts off with a bang in the emotional manipulation arena.  When this was aired as “The Menagerie”, even more manipulation is used.

Poor Spock’s emotions get played with so much, he actually smiles at the end of the episode.

Not exactly playing with emotions, but more using emotions to play with logic

Kirk gets to manipulate not only the Romulans, but his whole crew as well.

Alien creature, feeding off emotions it manipulates the crews of both ships to produce.

Summary:  Kirk beams down to the planet Gideon and appears to find himself trapped on the deserted Enterprise. Spock on the real Enterprise must use his diplomatic skills to deal with the uncooperative inhabitants of Gideon to find the Captain.

 

As with most of the Star Trek recs, this one’s a mindfuck from start to finish for the captain.

Both of these episodes completely screw with Riker’s emotions and sanity.

Rizley, commandant of the prison, manipulates Nick so well that he even gets the proud cowboy on his knees to beg for his brother’s life.

SUMMARY: A retired Civil War era Union general is tried for war crimes by ex-Confederates at the Barkley ranch while the family is held captive.

 

As with most of the above Star Trek episodes, this episode of The Big Valley is manipulation from start to finish.

SUMMARY: Heath arrives in a dying desert town, only to find himself a visitor in a madhouse. His hosts are five deranged people who play bizarre and deadly games with their infrequent guests. Heath's role in their hellish fantasy: the accused--on trial for rape and murder.

 

Probably the least favourite episode of most BV fans (which is likely why it’s not uploaded anywhere), but s serious mindfuck for Heath, especially when he’s about to be hung.
